The First Lady of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Welcome!

As I travel through our great Commonwealth, I never cease to be amazed by the hospitality of our people, our beautiful landscapes and our unlimited potential. Every community has something special to offer its citizens and its visitors.

However, we face many challenges – especially in education, and I plan to use my experience to benefit the children of the Commonwealth. In helping to establish the Kentucky Literacy Commission almost 20 years ago, I realized how important a healthy start and a good education for our children are to creating happy, successful adults. During my husband’s term as Governor, I will work to improve the quality of education in our schools and try to help find a way to motivate our youth to stay in school.

I will work to support Kentucky’s tourism industry by actively promoting Kentucky as an Adventure Tourism destination. From our mountains in the east to our western lakes and waterways, I cannot think of a better place to enjoy the great outdoors.

With the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games coming in September of 2010, I look forward to welcoming guests from around the globe. I am very proud of Kentucky and its people, and I am anxious to share the Bluegrass State with the world.

In my role as First Lady, my eyes have been opened to so many incredible programs throughout the Commonwealth. Everyday is a learning experience, and I hope to be able to use my new-found knowledge to further these initiatives.

During our time in Frankfort, Steve and I look forward to joining forces with the many kind, hard-working Kentuckians across the Commonwealth who strive to make this great state a safe, healthy and prosperous place to live.
